The ENGAGE Programme is a structured set of courses that incorporate personal, social and motivational development alongside creative multimedia skills and learning for NEET and ‘At Risk’ Young People.

Re-engagement

RollingSound has an excellent record of NEET re-engagement in London and the South-East and we have been highly commended for our innovative work moving young people into the EET cohort.

NEET Peer Mentor 'At Risk' Work Experience

NEET

Over the past four years RollingSound has developed a unique way of working with NEET young people. We have harnessed seven creative multimedia disciplines to move young people towards the EET Cohort through engaging and inspiring courses

Students on the Engage programme are evaluated on personal development areas, including motivation, attitude towards peers and creative course elements.

Whilst our NEET programmes help to get young people into relevant media industries they also serve as an important re-engagement tool, giving the young people the self belief to get back into education and alternative lines of employment

Our Flagship NEET programme  has been developed with London East Connexions Partnership Activity Agreement. From a long consultation process we created AMP (Activity Agreement Multimedia Programme) AMP supplies engaging provision for young people from 10 East London Boroughs 52 weeks a year 5 days a week at two venues. We run a two teir system. The AMP Foundation allows young people an insight into a particular discipline. If they show good aptitude they can graduate to the AMP Academy where they can gain an Arts Award.

Peer Mentor

RolllingSound have a vested interest in developing Peer Mentor programmes and have been piloting several projects in recent months and subsidised them ourselves.

We strongly believe that Peer Mentoring is an incredibly empowering tool for young people. It not only gets them interested in teaching but gives them self confidence to take on into other walks of like.

Mentoring takes two forms, the first is to train Young people to deliver a creative discipline, the second involves getting the Mentors to build rapports with their mentees outside of the creative discipline to help nurture their confidence and motivation.

Through this scheme RollingSound now employ five young people as paid tutor assistants. Those who are no longer with us are all either back in education or employment.

Barnet London Academy asked us to be their delivery partner for a Peer Mentor Scheme funded by the YOF. We have been training their Mentors and they now run their own Tuesday night music production club for other students.

“The sessions have been really successful. The format worked and everyone came away feeling positive”

At Risk

Young People in the At Risk cohort must be engaged in a different way to the majority of Young People. Our specific At Risk courses our designed to be sensitive to young peoples needs and use tutors who have the relevant experience and training to work with them.

We work with Youth offenders, Young People in and Leaving care, Teenage Parents and Self Harmers.

RollingSound courses address and promote issues through creative media in a sensitive and sensible way that is relevant to the young people.

An example of this work is with NACRO who work with the highest risk youth offenders in and around London. Harnessing Film and Video media we encouraged young people to talk frankly about their experiences and to become advocates to other young people about why they should avoid crime at all costs.
